Sure you can weigh boxes on a smooth plastic or stainless steel platter but you then have to pick up the the box or gently slide the box off the scale. Or, you can weigh boxes easily as they go through your conveyor line virtually eliminating any lifting. Be sure to check out our selection of industrial scales that you can integrate into your conveyor line. It's easy to do this since we have scales that feature either a ball-top platter or a roller top platter.
There's several features that you can do with our inline scales as well. Maybe you're looking to print a label. Or perhaps you're looking to checkweigh the boxes which allows you to enter a lower and upper weight limit along with a target weight range. You can then quickly see any boxes that are outside of that specific weight range. Maybe you're looking to simply keep a running total and accumulate the weight of all the boxes you've weighed today.
Conveyor scales come in two main types, each suited for different operations on your assembly line. Roller conveyor scales are designed for straightforward, linear movement—ideal when products only need to move in a straight line as they are weighed and transferred. This makes the rollertop a solid choice for most traditional applications.
On the other hand, ball transfer style inline scales allow items to change direction easily, making them perfect for systems where boxes or products must be sorted, diverted, or routed at various angles. The balltop platter style scales are especially useful in busy logistics, packaging, or distribution centers where flexibility in movement is key.
