Cardinal Scale’s New 190A Weight Indicator with Axle Weighing Software

cardinal 190a with 760 axle scalesDesigned for non-legal-for-trade portable axle weighing applications such as with Cardinal’s CWL-40 and 760 series mobile wheel weighers, the 190A weight indicator features axle weighing software, traffic control mode to automatically capture accumulative axle weights without the driver having to leave the truck (when connected to a remote display with traffic lights and printer), two RS232 serial ports (for printer and remote display), optional rechargeable lithium ion battery, capacitive touch keys, and IP69K-rated wash-down enclosure (the highest protection rating possible).

The 1-inch/25-mm high backlit LCD is visible in direct sunlight and may be set to any one of 6 different customizable settings. The 190A weight indicator features 3 watertight gland connectors, quick-connect power connector, and one ID.

The 190A easily factors axle weights by pressing the PRINT key for each successive axle weight, or it can function in traffic control auto mode sensing each truck axle’s weight when connected to a remote display such as the SB500 with traffic signals and a printer such as the P150. Traffic control mode allows the truck driver to never have to leave the truck during the axle weighing process which speeds up weighing operations.

Just What You’ve Asked For – Fishing Scale Reviews

fishing scale reviewEvery year we are asked for recommendations and quotes on various scales that we sell for weighing fish that are caught in a tournament. These fishing scale reviews are based on our experience and years of selling these items to customers. The weigh-in scales that we review are basically the ones that we sell. We don’t usually comment on scales that we have not sold since our experience is limited on those products. Often we are asked things like what is the best fishing scale and the answer to that really depends on several factors. Things like, how often are you planning on using the scale, and how accurate do you need the scale to be? Does the scale need to be “waterproof”? What is your budget? These are things that need to be considered before making a purchase. One other question that we don’t often talk about but it is worth mentioning is salt water. If you are planning on using the equipment around salt water, that is good to know when we make recommendations.

When you’re casting that fishing net across the internet trying to reel in the right scale for your club, you want to make sure that you buy the right product for your club. We all know that your budget is important, but you also want to make sure of the key features that you want. Does the scale need to be portable? Do you really know how to use a fishing scale? Since you obviously want a professional quality scale at an affordable price, lets take a look at some of our products and learn more about them. Continue reading

Do you carry any other type, that are less…

We were recently invited to provide a written quote on a 5’x5′ floor scale at a metal recycling center in North Carolina. When we sent the customer a quote for a quality set of floor scales, he replied back with the statement.

Do you carry any other type, that are less. In other words (brand x) scales are around 500.00 and I told (co-worker) that we could buy almost 3 for the price of 1 and if one breaks down we would have a back up.

Of course our first comment would be, it might be a good idea to buy two or three of them so you have a system that works! Seriously, if you’ve read any of our blog posts in the past, then you know our philosophy when it comes to floor scale systems. You can always find a set of scales at a cheaper price. Lets face it, in today’s world doesn’t that almost apply to just about any product? There is always somebody down the street willing to sell something a little cheaper. And often times if they can import a bunch of junk that has serious QC issues and sell them to unsuspecting customers who are simply looking to get a good deal, then that is what they will do.

That is why we focus on providing you a set of platform scales that we have confidence in.  The other note worth mentioning is the scale he was “comparing” our scale to wasn’t even legal for trade. The main point of this entry is, give us a call or send us an email and we can provide you with a quote for a weighing scale that we feel will meet your needs. If you have a budgeted price in mind, be sure to let us know that too. Often times when something costs a lot less than other similar products, there is a reason.

Airline Freight Division Chose Avery Weigh-Tronix Forklift Scales

Following a successful trial, the airline contacted its local distributor, to expand the product into more facilities. Multiple units were supplied for the larger operations that typically handle over a ton of freight daily, made up of many pallets. Avery Weigh-Tronix installed the units onto the existing forklift trucks on location. This transformed the fleet into mobile scales that provide trade-approved weight verification of each pallet. Drivers can now lift, weigh and move loads in one operation, rather than make repeat visits to a remote floor scale, significantly reducing handling time. A company director said, “Our employees love the new scale. They can pick up the load, weigh it accurately and complete the paperwork. It’s a huge time saver.” The client now validates the declared weight of a pallet quickly, ensuring first-time invoice accuracy to the courier or freight forwarder and avoiding any loss in revenue. The total weight of all the pallets in a particular consignment is also captured; essential for precise fuel calculations and to assist with the safe and even loading of the plane. The company also added, “We can now handle more weight, without needing any more operators. Just three lift trucks fitted with the Forklift Truck Scales can achieve the same throughput as five vehicles visiting a floor scale.”

Remote Displays and Scoreboards For Truck Scales Are Becoming Standard Items Lately

Customers are discovering that adding a remote display to your weighing operations allows the scale operator, truck driver, customer, or anyone else nearby to see the weight displayed. A nice choice for displays is the Survivor Laserlight from Rice Lake.

Power up a SURVIVOR® LaserLight remote display or an M-Series messaging display in your application and the benefits of its bright, high-intensity display and non-glare lens are immediately visible. From a fog concealed truck scale, to the smoke and dust of a foundry
or steel mill, the LaserLight’s LED display provides sharp, easy to read images of your critical weight process values. You’ll never experience wash-out in direct sunlight or lose visibility in dark conditions again, because the LaserLight uses an IntelliBright™ sensing
feature that automatically adjusts the display for optimal viewing in any lighting condition.

With the LaserLight M-Series messaging remote display, you can easily slide, scroll or flash any alphanumeric message. Perfect for showing important information, displaying instructions, or any general greeting, the M-Series is available with an 8 character or 12 character display.

Emitted light enhances maximum viewing distance from 70˚ vertical axis and 140˚ horizontal axis. All models come with annunciators for GR, NT, lb, and kg. For added convenience, optional time and date, and temperature functions are also available.

The light gray, heat resistant enclosure is smartly designed with a sloped top to ensure moisture run-off. Conveniently located setup and navigation switches allow for easy configuration of the unit. To simplify installation and make retrofitting an attractive option, the Auto Learn mode identifies the communications format and data rate used by your weight indicator to make installation quick and easy. The SURVIVOR® LaserLight remote display… providing crisp, accurate weight readings to ensure your process is always moving forward.

Forklift truck scales increase revenue by 1.5% each month

The instant legal-for-trade weighment of each load, provided by the Avery Weigh-Tronix Forklift Truck Scales, enables the customer to collect an additional 1.5% revenue per
month. For most of their terminals, a scale pays for itself during the first 30 days of use and every dollar collected after that is pure profit. The company is currently in the
process of outfitting all terminals with Avery Weigh-Tronix legal-for-trade Forklift Truck Scales. In addition to ensuring accurate billing, the scales’ accurate weight verification enables dock workers to load the trucks evenly and legally, which avoids overload fines, excessive wear on the vehicle, and unsafe operation.

Avery Weigh-Tronix Legal-for-Trade Forklift Truck Scales transform ordinary lift trucks into mobile scales that deliver instant legal-for-trade weight verification of each load upon pick-up. They are designed for industrial use, the field-serviceable scales feature solid steel Weigh Bar® weight sensors, a rugged electronic indicator, and an epoxy-painted scale carriage frame. The proven Weigh Bar technology connects the front and back scale elements, eliminating flexures, and reducing maintenance costs.

Announcement On Rice Lake OTR Above Ground Truck Scale

Rice Lake Weighing Systems was recently granted an amendment to its NTEP Certificate of Conformance for the SURVIVOR OTR Series of above ground truck scales. The amendment reduces the scale’s minimum division value (emin) from the industry standard 20 pounds to 10 pounds, making the SURVIVOR OTR suitable for not only vehicle weighing, but high-dollar applications such as livestock and scrap-metal weighing.
The improved resolution is essential where valuable commodities are being weighed and Rice Lake’s truck scales now offer a competitive advantage in those cases.

The new certification applies to Rice Lake’s entire OTR Series, including steel and concrete decks and pit or pitless grain dump models, in standard widths up to 16.5 feet and standard lengths up to 160 feet. The SURVIVOR OTR is also now available with racks and gates for livestock containment needs.
