It has almost become comical when we stop and take a few moments to look around the internet at all the different floor scales that are available. Sometimes, it is even funnier when we notice all the floor scale “experts” positioned throughout the internet that are selling the floor scales. It’s really unbelievable.  It’s as if floor scales are posted on websites like burgers are listed on restaurant menus.  However, as some of you know, not every burger is the same.  Same holds true for floor scales.  Quality matters.

Let me guess your age, birth month, or your weight

Many people go and visit their State Fair this time of year.  I’m no exception.  What a fun way to spend a day.  When you do go and visit, you probably will notice the many displays set up who will guess your weight, your birth month or your age.  Seems like they are located on every corner.  They guess wrong and you win a prize.  What scale do they normally have beside them?

Usually, it is an old mechanical dial scale.  These days, not too many of those old mechanical dial scales are available.  However, we do have these portable digital platform scales which are similar.

We have an affordable NTEP 4×4 5000 lb capacity floor scale that is available. This i series scale features a painted mild steel deck w/ tread plate top. The four load cell feet are adjustable and the junction box is a cast aluminum with adjustable summing card.

PC Software captures Data from Digital Scales or Balances

Recently Adam Equipment introduced AdamDU Data Collection Software, a new software utility that collects balance and scale data for immediate analysis or for exporting to other applications such as spreadsheets. The software is easy to set up and can record data from up to eight Adam Equipment balances and scales simultaneously. AdamDU is also capable of providing graphing and statistic analysis for the collected data.

Customers are asking for easy ways of sending their scale data to the computer and with the Adam software package, it couldn’t get any easier. The software is designed to work with most Adam balances and scales, without needing complex programming skills. Continue reading →

Overload protection

As is the case quite often — a lot of the topics we discuss here originate from our customers.  Just recently I received a question about overload protection on our floor scales.  Apparently a lot of the “internet specials” that are flooding the web lately like to advertise they have “200% overload” protection, plus somehow with all the “toughness” they have built into their scales, they can sell their scales at super low prices and offer free freight on these “heavy duty” monsters.  Wow, we need these internet guys to run for office — there is nothing they can’t do or say! (or write for that matter)

Here at CCS, we stick to whatever the manufacturer specs are because most, if not all, of our floor scales don’t have those 200% specifications. GSE specs do currently list overload protection for their floor scales at 200%. However, most of our floor scales have somewhere around 60% to 100%, which should be plenty.  This number really depends greatly on the manufacturer, the product structure, and the component quality in the scale.

Portable Weighing at its best!

The Aatlas Kwik-Weigh KW-1 electronic pallet truck scale features a floating platform (ball and cup suspension) with back lighting when weigh is applied to forks. It also featues, LB/KG toggle switch, center of zero indicator, automatic zero tracking, push button zero, push button tare with net/gross indication, RS 232 serial port (Bidirectional) and low battery indicator.
