Strong Man VS. Tractor With 380 Indicator & Load Cell

I thought this would be an interesting video to share with our visitors. A scale company out west provided some scale equipment to Brian Shaw, a WSM champion, as he attempts to pull a large tractor across the parking lot.

In the epic video, Brian took on a monumental challenge of pulling a massive tractor across a parking lot. In the past, Shaw had basically measured his pulls based on feel and difficulty. Now with the scale equipment involved, he would be able to put a number to just how difficult or easy the pull was.

From what I can tell, the equipment used in this pull included a Rice Lake 380 Synergy battery powered weight indicator and a S-Beam load cell. These two devices were connected and calibrated using certified test weight.

The 380 Synergy battery powered indicator is a good choice for basic weighing applications like this which that don’t have 110VAC power nearby. The indicator operates on (4) C Cell batteries and can provide hours of power on one set of batteries.  The 380 can easily mount almost anywhere, making weight data visible exactly where you need it.

A five-button keypad makes operation quick and simple while RS-232 and USB ports make it easy to connect to peripheral equipment. Configurable print formats allow you to print only the most important information to your application. A stainless steel, IP66 enclosure means the 380 Synergy can withstand the outdoor elements. A bright, six-digit LCD display makes weight data easy to see.

It’s impressive to see what Shaw can do in this Strong Man VS Tractor With 380 Indicator & Load Cell entry and it’s really great to see the scale equipment measuring the pull. Now, you’re probably not going to be doing this type of pull yourself, but perhaps you have other applications where something like this would work very well. We offer these exact same 380 indicators and S-type load cells as well to our customers, just call us at (919) 776-7737 or click the RFQ button to get started.
